According to Miller, the first teacher of English in Europe was William Caxton, from England, whose first book was The Recuyell of the Historyes of Troye. It was published in 1473.
The first book in English on American History
In 1816, John Hill published "The History of the United States for the Use of Young People, written by a young lady of English parentage". In his Preface, Hill wrote: "This book was written by one who felt deeply interested in the history of this country; and who was happy in the consciousness that the American people, whilst she wrote, would have no cause to regret that she had spoken.
