DFX Rez Synth Rez was the name of an original synthesizer developed by Dave Smith, a friend of Scott Hart and Bill Atkinson. It was a synthesizer that combined the capabilities of two previous synthesizers, an FM synthesizer and a Moog synthesizer. The synth in Rez was created to be very affordable and very powerful, but the form factor and control layout were unusual. Rez is still available today, as an open source project and an inexpensive MIDI controller, but it is not as popular as it once was. RezSynth was the result of an effort to create a similar synthesizer but with some features and an improved user interface. It is still available as an open source project. There are also several software ports and clones of RezSynth, including Synth1, which claims to be the fastest software implementation of the instrument. RezSynth is a free and open-source software synthesizer designed for use with a MIDI controller or keyboard. RezSynth can be run as a standalone software synthesizer in all operating systems supported by VST. It can be also run as a plug-in module of Virtual Studio Technology (VST), which is included in all major audio and music software (Cubase, FL Studio, Ableton Live, ProTools, Studio Vision, Cakewalk Sonar, Sony ACID Pro, Propellerhead Reason). It can be also run as a plug-in module for Apple Logic Pro X. The Rez interface uses a novel, human-friendly and unique way to express control parameters with the aid of user-defined variables, which, for example, may take on a value from 0 to 12. The VST version of RezSynth is available in several versions, depending on the processor available. The Pro version uses a powerful processor running at up to 500 MHz. This version allows for multitimbrality and noise generators, up to 32 simultaneous voices with one channel, and it can control over 40 instruments. RezSynth is available for download in the form of a single VST plug-in (free and open-source), standalone VST standalone program (freeware), as a Windows installer for Windows 7 and later versions, and as an installer for macOS and Linux systems. The VST software version of RezSynth is offered in free and open-source distribution models. It is available as either a VST plug-in or a standalone VST or macOS/ DFX Rez Synth Download The new VLI (virtual latency) and MSE (modulated sound expansion) engines in DFX Rez Synth offer a live controlled, physical, extremely musical sound, with large and varied programming flexibility. DFX Rez Synth has an interactive, chord driven piano (8 voices with envelope, 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 octaves) plus an original synthesizer section. You can use either the internal step sequencer or the MIDI editor with the famous MOTU MicroBrute (with 52 pads and 88 note keyboard) for note-on or -off and program changes. Besides it's built-in powerful filter section, the three polyphonic oscillators (with detune, pitch-bend and modulation wheel) and the noise generator, Rez Synth allows you to use one or two external analog or digital synthesizers (including powerful instruments like the Kawai GSK1, Korg MS20, Korg MS20D, Roland Juno-60, Roland JV2000 or Yamaha XG Series). The following table shows a few examples of MIDI note on messages: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- **xxxxxx** | MIDI note number (1-12 or 0 for Note Off) **yyyyyy** | Note number in octave (1-12 or 0 for Note Off) **zzzzzz** | Velocity (CC or *yyyyyy* octave number) **xxxxxx** | 1 **yyyyyy** | 5 **zzzzzz** | 100 **xxxxxx** | 2 **yyyyyy** | 7 **zzzzzz** | 1 **xxxxxx** | 9 **yyyyyy** | 10 **zzzzzz** | 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note that the'velocity' (CC value) is optional for MIDI note on messages. This message type can be used in conjunction with the *MIDI CC* message type to define Velocity CC. The Velocity CC is encoded with the same byte order as the MIDI velocity, i.e. little-endian. If the note on is *note off* (included in the same message), the note is played (MIDI note off messages contain a "*" for velocity). Otherwise, the note is not played. As per the MIDI data protocol, note off messages are always sent as MIDI note on messages, with the note number set to 0. However, the note off message is processed as MIDI note on message if the note off is preceded by a note on message. This is done to prevent note off messages from colliding with note on messages and making it difficult to match an instrument with a MIDI note on message. The MIDI note on and note off messages are not processed by keyset messages (see the MIDI CC message type). The MIDI note on message does not contain any velocity, channel, program number, instrument, and the like. CONSTRUCTION This MIDI message type is used by the SYSEXFORM.MIDI.SYS music system driver. The type name is defined as: *SYSEXFORM.MIDI.SYS/SYSEXFORM.MIDI.SYS.MIDI.NOTE What's New In?
